The Reading List is an editorial company that focuses on developmental editing, copyediting, line editing, proofreading, book production/proposals, and manuscript critiques. As a company that works mainly with books, the Reading List uses the Chicago Manual of Style.
INDY Week is a progressive news outlet covering the Triangle area of North Carolina. I copyedit, write, and help around the office a couple days per week. INDY Week also uses Chicago style.
It’s been a learning experience and I’ve gradually grown more accustomed to using Chicago style. At UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Media and Journalism we are only taught AP style, which in theory, makes a lot of sense. Most news outlets use AP style, but INDY Week is an exception.
In addition to the internships, I’m taking a few online classes to lighten my course load during the school year. I’ll be updating my website periodically, so stay tuned!
